Temptation...arrrrr!

Anyone else out there thinking about joining the "We Call Them Pirates" knitalong? Members of this group are going to knit the We Call Them Pirates Hat (free pattern at Hello Yarn), the matching mittens, or anything else using the We Call Them Pirates motif.

It's a two-color pattern with the yarn carried throughout and would be my first foray into fairisle. This is one technique I've been interested in trying (okay, I'll 'fess up: there's no knitting technique that I'm not interested in trying--except maybe steeks, which scare the crap out of me). And it's a pirate motif...how cool is that?

Signups end 15 January, and projects should be completed by 15 March.

It sounds really neat, but a bit too much for me to attempt right now! If you do decide to join up, I look forward to seeing your progress!! (And maybe seeing your successful progress will help me feel more courageous about returning to colorwork -- I've only done a VERY little bit in the past...)

Yarrr! Good luck, matey! :)

The Pirates hat was my first attempt at fair isle, too! I did it last year for knitting Olympics, but sadly didn't have it blocked in time to win gold. It was a fun knit and I'd definitely knit it again, you'll enjoy it! Lately the talk re: fair isle is all about color domination, something to do with which color to hold in which hand. I'll send you the link if you haven't read it already.

Well, I did not sign up for this knitalong--but that doesn't mean I can't knit this hat anyway. I think I'll have more fun if I'm not working against a deadline.

JD, if you could send me that link some time, I'd appreciate it!
