I need an intervention
I just stumbled upon the website for Earth Friendly Yarns, whose banner declares that they "offer a great array of organic, vegan, recycled, fair-traded and related products for knitting and crochet." Just as I was starting to get annoyed at the lack of a serial comma in that sentence, my inner-hippie alarm went off.
Earth friendly? Fair-traded? Recycled?
The stuff on this site was made for me, I'm sure. They have hemp! And yarn made from seaweed! And aloo (which is made from the fiber of the nettle plant and surely has great texture for washcloths) and soy and corn and stuff made from banana trees
(Must not buy more yarn...must not buy more yarn...must not buy more yarn...)

I'm a big fan of the serial comma but was told in college it's a no-no now. Really any chance to use another comma and I'm there. Oh, the yarn sounds good too. : )
Who in the world told you the serial comma is a no-no now? Someone who was high or on crack or something?
Seriously: nearly all publishers use the serial comma these days. Notable exceptions are newspapers and some magazines, who avoid it in an effort to save space. (Note that this effort dates from the days when type was uniformly spaced and set by hand.)
Careful now, if you buy this, what am *I* going to send you? :)
buy it...buy the yarn...go ahead...you know you want to...that's right...you are getting sleepy....
this is def one for me to check out! though i *should* be on a yarn diet, too, you remember all my recent purchases! thanks for the heads-up!
JD, if you need a nudge in the right direction ("right" being defined as "whatever leads to stash enhancement"), read Gina's comment, above yours. Lather, rinse, and repeat as needed.
It is so comforting to learn - from reading your blog - that I am not alone in my addiction to buying yarn! I have however been on a self-induced hiatus for several months now and have made NO, repeat that, NO new yarns purchases for at least 6 months now! I feel the urge coming on me but fortunately, I can't leave the house and run to look for yarns as I am babysitting the two little grands today and also, have two weeks left of not being allowed to drive too - since recent surgery!
But, hopefully, once I get loose again, I can refrain from making wild purchases since I already have darned near enough in my stash to start at least a small yarn shop - or so my son-in-law believes anyway. Little does he know but one NEVER has quite enough yarn on hand!
